Dress Code

Good grooming is important and necessary for dance classes.
General Program
Please note that RNB has a navy blue uniform leotard which is sold ONLY at Duck Feet.
HAIR:
Hair needs to be in a secure bun for all Ballet, Pointe and Accelerated classes. For all other dance classes, hair (including bangs) needs to be tied up off of the neck and away from the face. Boys with long hair should wear a ponytail and use a bandana to secure bangs away from the face.
DRESS CODE - Girls
BALLET:
Let's Dance - Leotard, skirt & pink full-sole leather Ballet slippers.
Pre-Primary & Primary - Navy blue RNB uniform and navy blue RNB skirt, pink tights and pink full-sole leather Ballet slippers.
Grade 1 & 2 - Navy blue RNB uniform, pink tights and pink full-sole leather Ballet slippers. Black Character Skirt and low heel Character shoes.
Grade 3 - 8 - Navy blue RNB uniform, pink tights, pink full-sole leather Ballet slippers. Black Character Skirts and high black Cuban heel Character shoes. Grade 6, 7 & 8 will require chiffon skirts for examinations.
Inter & Advanced (including syllabus classes) - Navy blue RNB uniform or black leotard, pink tights, pink full-sole leather Ballet slippers.
Unset, Teen & Pointe classes - Navy blue RNB uniform, pink tights, pink Ballet slippers and Pointe shoes.
*Those students who will be starting Pointe for the first time this year should wait until RNB holds its group Pointe shoe fitting in October, at which time Pointe shoes may be purchased.
MODERN:
Primary - Intermediate - Navy blue RNB uniform with black shorts or fitted black capri pants. Bare feet or Capezio 'foot undies' (at the request of the teacher)
Advanced - Any leotard with black shorts or fitted black capri pants. Bare feet or Capezio 'foot undies' (at the request of the teacher).
JAZZ:
1 - 5 - Navy blue RNB uniform or black leotard with fitted black shorts or pants and black slip-on Jazz shoes.
Jr, Teen & Lyrical - Navy blue RNB uniform with black fitted shorts or pants and black slip-on Jazz shoes.
TAP:
Pre-Primary - Intermediate - Navy blue RNB uniform with fitted black shorts or pants. Tap shoes with black ankle socks (no patterned socks please).
Advanced 1 & 2 - Any leotard with fitted black shorts or pants and Tap shoes.
HIP HOP, CONDITIONING, STREET JAZZ & BREAK DANCING:
All levels - T-shirt and pants or shorts (no jeans and no exposed mid-drifts) and INDOOR RUNNING SHOES. No shoes that have been worn outdoors will be permitted on the dance floor.
CONTEMPORARY:
Jr, Inter & Accelerated - Navy blue RNB uniform with footless black tights or fitted black shorts. Bare feet or socks (at the request of the teacher).
Sr & Elite - Any leotard with footless black tights or fitted black shorts. Bare feet or socks (at the request of the teacher).
ACRO & STRENGTH AND STRETCH:
Junior & Acro Tech - Navy blue RNB uniform or black leotard with footless black tights or fitted black shorts. Bare feet.
Elite - Any leotard with footless black tights or fitted black shorts. Bare feet.
ACCELERATED BALLET:
Junior/Intermediate - Navy blue RNB uniform, pink tights and pink Ballet slippers.
Senior - Any leotard, pink tights, Ballet slippers and Pointe shoes.
COMPANY:
All levels - Navy blue RNB uniform or black leotard, fitted shorts or pants and black slip-on Jazz shoes.
MUSICAL THEATRE:
All levels - Navy blue RNB uniform or black leotard, fitted shorts or pants and slip-on Jazz shoes.

BALLET:
All levels - Fitted white t-shirt, navy blue or black shorts or boys tights. White ankle socks and white leather Ballet slippers with white elastics.
MODERN, JAZZ, CONTEMPORARY & ACRO:
All levels - Fitted white tank top and black shorts or pants. Bare feet (Modern, Contemporary, Acro) and black slip-on Jazz shoes (Jazz).
TAP:
All levels - White tank top or t-shirt, black shorts or pants and black Tap shoes.
HIP HOP:
All levels - T-shirt and pants or shorts (no jeans) and INDOOR RUNNING SHOES. No shoes that have been worn outdoors will be permitted on the dance floor.
PERFORMERS DRESS CODE
Hair: Do not wash hair on performance day. It stays "put" better if a little dirty.
Make up: Please do not put make-up on the younger students. Our in-house make-up artists will make sure that your child is made up as the teacher instructs. Senior students should have false eyelashes. Make up is NOT required at Dress Rehearsals, but full costume and hair is expected.
Jewelry: Unless part of a costume, NO jewelry can be worn. Leave it at home.
Nail Polish: Must be removed prior to the Dress Rehearsals.
Shoes & Tights: Must be clean and without runs or holes. Leather ballet shoes can be cleaned with Liquid Ajax or Vim. Canvas ballet shoes can be machine washed and air dried
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE to buy new tights or shoes. Be sure to label all personal items with your name.
